With the rush of Thanksgiving next week, followed closely by Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday, the holidays are officially here.
Because I might not get in a post next week, I wanted to take a moment to wish all my readers the Happiest of Thanksgivings.
Thanksgiving
I have a lot to be thankful for this season and my community is a huge part of that.
With the help of my community, I finished “Buried Ladies: A Novel of Murder, Mystery, and the Dark Web“, which is available on Amazon for pre-orders. The release date is Black Friday and the introductory price of $.99 goes up to $2.99 in February.
I can’t even express my gratitude for your encouragement, feedback, and support. Without you, I never would have finished the book.
This is especially true of my writers’ group here in DC and my Beta readers. You guys rock.
If you haven’t already, take a moment to join my community to contribute to future books and learn about what’s happening with my writing — including a new series to support the marketing efforts of indie writers. Community members get special offers and discounts, as well as first options for joining my Beta reader program.
Black Friday
And it’s corollaries, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday are nearly upon us.
As a shopper, I encourage you to consider giving the gift of reading to those you love this season. Books are always a great gift and last long after many other gifts are trash.
As an author, you should consider running a discount or other promotion for the holidays. There’s still time to run a promo on Amazon or Goodreads for next week’s busy shopping season.
NaNoWriMo
I hope NaNoWriMo (national novel writing month) was productive and you reached your 50,000 word goal — or whatever goal you set for yourself. You still have a couple weeks to finish strong.
I started NaNoWriMo with a little over 50,000 words toward my new novel — “Scars of the Past” — which is the sequel to “Buried Ladies”. Scars of the Past follows Jaime and Estella to DC, where things don’t go as planned when a series of political assassinations invade their lives. Because I’ve focused on preparing for the launch of “Buried Ladies”, I’ve not been as productive as I would like. I’ve added about 20,000 words.
If you’ve finished your novel, I’m happy to help with any marketing questions you have. Simply send a message via Twitter or leave a comment and I’ll get back to you.
The future
I hope to finish “Scares of the Past” by the end of the year, with a release date early next year — I have to allow time for feedback from Beta readers, graphic design for the cover, and proofreading.
The next book in the “Buried Ladies” series follows several characters from the first book, along with a minor character from the second book as they attempt to stop a bioterrorist who released a superbug that’s resistant to existing drugs. I hope I can count on your continued support as I move these projects along.
